Capacity Expansion Program

Question

QUESTION Will the Minister provide the projected completion date to reach practical completion for projects under the former Capacity Expansion Program, (in table format, reported separately by project, including the New Coomera Hospital, New Toowoomba Hospital, New Bundaberg Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital Expansion, New Queensland Cancer Centre, Ipswich Hospital Expansion Stage 2, Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 2, Townsville University Hospital Expansion, QEII Hospital Expansion, Princess Alexandra Hospital Expansion, Prince Charles Hospital Expansion, Cairns Hospital Expansion, Mackay Hospital Expansion and Hervey Bay Hospital Expansion)? ANSWER The former government’s mismanagement of the failed Capacity Expansion Program resulted in major delays and budget blowouts, and significant design flaws. Not one project was expected to be delivered within its original funding envelope or delivery timeframe. The Crisafulli Government’s fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan will deliver three new hospitals, a new Queensland Cancer Centre and 10 major hospital expansions across the state. Several projects require new, fully developed plans that meet hospital and health service and clinical needs. The Crisafulli Government’s Hospital Rescue Plan is an investment in the future of our health system and will deliver more than 2,600 beds across the state. The Hospital Rescue Plan details the completion dates of several major projects, details which are available here: https://www.plan.health.qld.gov.au/our-hospitals. A significant replanning exercise is continuing on the remaining projects; therefore, delivery timeframes are not yet known.
