Question

QUESTION Will the Minister advise the completion date for the $200m redevelopment of the Cooktown Multipurpose Health Centre? ANSWER The Crisafulli Government has released the Hospital Rescue Plan to address significant failings with the former government in regards to major hospital infrastructure projects across the state. This includes the Cooktown Multipurpose Health Centre (MPHC). The independent review into the former government’s Capacity Expansion Program exposed major mismanagement including delays, under-funded projects and significant design flaws. The Cooktown MPHC redevelopment includes an eight bed expansion, ED and inpatient unit, operating theatre, and ambulatory and outpatient services. Most notably, the Crisafulli Government will restore birthing services to Cooktown after the former government shut them down in 2022. Details of development activity can be found at: https://www.torres- cape.health.qld.gov.au/hospitals-and-health-centres/cooktown-multipurpose-health- service/cooktown-mphs-redevelopment.
