With reference to reports of small mine operators being charged an exorbitant Emergency Management Levy for parcels of vacant scrubland and overcharged for active working leases by being categorised by land area instead of production volume, and noting that in the event of a fire or machinery accident the only government services available are SES and Rural Fire Brigade (manned by volunteers - often the same miners being levied)— Will the Minister consult with the North Queensland Miners Association to correct this anomaly?
