Emergency Management Levy

Question

With reference to small mine operators being charged an exorbitant Emergency Management Levy for parcels of vacant scrub-land and overcharged for active working leases by being categorised by land area instead of production volume, and noting that in the event of a fire or machinery accident the only government services available are SES and Rural Fire Brigade (manned by volunteers – often the same miners being levied)— Will the Minister consult with the North Queensland Miners Association to correct this anomaly?
